In his warmhearted, humorous images, New York photographer Dan Nelken tells about the way of life of rural America; family owned farms and small agrarian communities that meet annually on "County Fairs". During a short, festive week, the hard labour of the year is celebrated and, very importantly, the ourcome of that work is compared in competition. Who has the lagest pumkin, the fattest cow or the cutest rabbit? Since 2000, Dan Nelken has captured the essence of this, almost nostalgic, way of life. The book to the series has been published by Kehrer, Heidelberg. Dan Nalken lives as a freelance photographer in New York City. His work has been awarded, published and exhibited internationally and is found in both public and private collections.
